Happy Wednesday! Here’s the run down on what’s going on in Rutherford County’s Theatre scene!

Enjoy Murfreesboro Little Theatre’s“Miss Nelson is Missing!” adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, is based on the book by Harry Allard. They refuse to listen to Miss Nelson about anything! What happens when Miss Nelson goes missing and the meanest substitute teacher on the planet, Viola Swamp, comes in to take over Room 207? The class bands together to go on a hunt to find Miss Nelson, but will they find Miss Nelson? Will they pass the Big Test? Will they survive Viola Swamp?

A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!!

Bloom Stage will present an experiential event and immersive theatrical production of Orson Welles' original 1938 broadcast of The War of the Worlds in conjunction with the Tennessee STEAM Festival. Join us as we recreate and record this broadcast before a live and participatory audience, with related exhibits and activities.

Attendees will arrive to exhibits and archival information provided in collaboration with Middle Tennessee State University Center for Popular Music on the history of radio and sound engineering, meet some current pod-casters and radio affiliates as a comparison of how we currently hear audio entertainment and information as well as learn about science fiction and the influence of this 1938 broadcast. Attendees will then move upstairs to the main hall of the Walnut House to watch the staged performance of the original 1938 radio drama. This performance will encourage audience participation with sounds effects as they observe how radio dramas were created and enjoy the technical special effects of Walnut House's immersive video projection capabilities.

The Tennessee STEAM Festival brings science, technology, engineering, art, and math to life at events across the state! It aspires to build interest and excitement in STEAM, and cultivate the next generation of citizen and professional science advocates and practitioners by leveraging local partnerships from across the region. The Discovery Center, whose commitment to Murfreesboro and the surrounding region marked its 30th year in 2017, leads the statewide effort.

Tickets are $10 GA, $7 student (proof to be shown at door) on sale at: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/5203614
