COVID-19: Regional and State Resources for Artists

We have seen an outpouring of community support for the many disenfranchised groups throughout the world at this time. The Rutherford Arts Alliance maintains its vigil for resources that may be of assistance to our local arts community.

Please consider the resources from these organizations, available not only to Nashville but the surrounding area.

A recent email from the NEA provides very helpful guidance and links related to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Funding. Please note that the application deadline is April 22. Learn more in this archive of the email.

The Tennessee Arts Commission also recently emailed an update that says the Commission “expects to subgrant 100% of the CARES Act funds.” For more information, see this archived email.

The Arts + Business Council of Greater Nashville is a 501(c)(3) organization that leverages and unites the unique resources of the arts and business communities to create a thriving, sustainable creative culture in Nashville. On their site, abcnashville.org, you can find information on the CARES Act as well as The Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program that will provide emergency support for those typically ineligible for their state’s standard unemployment coverage, those who have already exhausted their benefits, or those unable to work due to circumstances caused by COVID-19. The Council also provides volunteer lawyers and professionals for the arts.

The mission of the Tennessee Arts Commission is to cultivate the visual, literary, music and performing arts for the benefit of all Tennesseans and their communities. The organization is offering extensive information on the CARES Act, the New National Artist/Creative Worker Relief Fund and other resources for creatives affected by the pandemic on their COVID19 page at tnartscommission.org.

Tennesseans for the Arts advocate for the arts at all levels as a strong, unified voice throughout Tennessee. They actively support local arts organizations and the work of the Tennessee Arts Commission. Contact them at TN4arts.org for more information on how to promote and support your arts organization.

In addition to start-up assistance, the Tennessee Small Business Development Center of Murfreesboro/MTSU provides existing business assistance including, but not limited to business growth planning, government contracting guidance, international trade guidance, sources of capital, & social media strategy guidance. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the center is not accepting in-person meetings at this time. Counseling will continue via phone, email, and online video conferencing.
