Rutherford County Theatre News, July 2023

Happy July Readers,

This summer holds a lot of growth in the theatre community as we see the blossoming of multiple new performing arts groups and venues such as the Inner Light Family Theatre, The Station Theatre, and more. Let’s work to build a sense of community rather than competition in this thriving performing arts mecca we call Middle Tennessee!

Consider This Theatre closed their spectacular production of Beauty and the Beast last week. After a few rounds of successful auditions, they gear up for their next production Role4 Initiative, an original comedy play written by locals Jessica Wells and Karl Ripka. This show follows a hilarious ensemble cast as they role play in a Dungeons and Dragons style game.

Spring House Theatre sparks local interest with their new Black Box production Public Domain: The Musical. This original, written by local T. Josiah Haynes, will debut in Smyrna on June 30th and will run through July 9th!  Follow the kooky cast of public domain characters such as, Romeo and Juliet, Sherlock Holmes and more, as they come to life and begin to wreak havoc in the real world.

Ghost Light Studio prepares for their first ever one man show, Portrait of a Young Man. Written and performed by the talented Kyle Thomas, this production was originally performed in New York City for a contest.  It now makes its way to Tennessee at the Mills-Pate Arts Center. Running only July 14th and 15th, you will not want to miss this moving, once in a lifetime performance. Also, keep an eye out for their upcoming auditions for Twisted Ranch, which makes its third and final year run this October.

This is just a taste of the local theatre we are blessed with in middle Tennessee. We are a thriving community thanks to local theatre goers such as yourself.

On behalf of all the local performers I say thank you. Until next time,
