Rutherford County Theatre News, April 2023

Happy Spring Readers!

This month we have a multitude of fun shows for the community, starting with the kickoff of Ghost Light Studio’s first full season of shows! GLS is so excited to open their first production at Mills-Pate Arts Center, Pygmalion, of a Fashion.” This dramedy written by Edwin Creely, is a comical re-telling of the classic story, Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. Told in retrospect by two kooky old Narrators, we visit the story of Eliza Doolittle, a common flower girl living in the streets of 1912 England. She is soon picked up by the condescending and sometimes vulgar Professor Higgins, who vows to make Eliza his new creation, by turning a wench into a duchess.

Tickets are now on sale on their website: Ghost Light Studio

Murfreesboro Little Theatre recently closed their stellar production of “Puffs.” I regret not finding the time to see this hysterical cast as I read the satisfied reviews of happy patrons. Coming up next for MLT is not only their annual student summer camps, but their long-awaited performance of a classic Shakespeare production. Highlighted this year will be the beloved, “Much Ado About Nothing."

Tickets and more info about summer camps are available on their website: Murfreesboro Little Theatre

After losing the re-election for district attorney, Paul Biegler decides to take on a big murder trial. The client, Frederic Manion. The crime, killing the man who supposedly raped Manion’s wife. What is right? What is wrong? What is true justice? Bravo Boro would like to note the heavy subject matter spoken about through the course of the production and opens their communication to those who have more questions.

“I believe that in a great city, or even in a small city or a village,

a great theatre is the outward and visible sign of an inward and probable culture.”
