Good evening, my fellow art enthusiasts!

 While we have all enjoyed the eloquent writings of Taylor Gentry, a page has since been turned in his book, and a new journey begins! My name is Poem Bokoles, and I am honored and humbled to be taking over as your monthly RAA theatre blog writer. Let’s get to May theatre news, including summer camps!

  • Center for the Arts kicks off this month with a smash, as they prepare to debut their upcoming production of Noises Off, running May 13th-22nd. Noises Off is a  charming comedy about an ambitious director, alongside his ragtag group of aspiring actors! With the talented direction of Adam Boe, this show is SURE to be a riot! Shortly following this is their upcoming auditions for “Avenue Q”! Auditions run May 15th through 16th. To purchase tickets or learn more about upcoming auditions, visit CFTA’s website boroarts.org.

  • Bravo Boro brought the beloved classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest to life! But stay tuned for their upcoming summer camp running June 13th through the 26th, where students ages 8-18 will learn new skills, play games, and bring to life a fierce production of Robin Hood

  • Everyone within the community is thrilled that Murfreesboro Little Theatre is still thriving, as they prepare their “Backyard Bard” run of MacBeth. Performances will take place at Oakland's Mansion on May 11, 12, 13, and 15, and again on June 2, 3, and 5, all at 7pm. For more details, head over to MLT’s Facebook page of events.

    MLT will also be offering summer camps! Their first camp, for ages K-10, runs June 6-10 with a showcase on June 11th. The second camp of their season for ages 10-17, runs June 13th-17th, with a showcase on June 18th. For camp registration visit their website,  mltarts.com/summer-camps.

  • Consider This Theatre steps outside the box this May with their upcoming event, God Speaks! An experience of scripture and song, that will be open to the public! This event runs May 6th- 7th.   • Ghost Light Studio has an exciting month ahead, as they announce auditions for their upcoming Cabaret Fundraiser. GLS is currently accepting all video submissions, so break out your camera and show them what you got! The Cabaret is meant to highlight the local talent of performing artists in Middle TN. Whether you’re a comedian, dancer, Improv troupe, or poet, it’s time to let YOUR light shine in this one night only event.
