Theatre Blog: February 2022

Hello all! I hope everyone out there is staying warm and ready to enjoy all the wonderful new productions coming out in Rutherford County!

Don’t forget to mark (pun intended) your calendars for Dracula on February 11th-13th and February 18th-20th; Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm and Sundays at 2:30. Go to Bravoboro.com to get your tickets today. Rumor has it that Bram Stoker’s vampire is having an online spat with Murfreesboro’s Count Drahoon. Be sure to keep your eyes on social media, as you are bound to see Bravo Boro cross promote with various other door shows.

The long awaited Party of Twelve is set to premiere at The Washington Theatre at Patterson Park on April 8th-10th. The play by Mary Donnet Johnson was set to debut to commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment, but due to COVID, it had to be put on hold. Leading Ladies and Center for the Arts have eagerly waited, and feel that the time is right to finally present this production centering on twelve famous women from Rutherford County over the span of a century. Go to https://www.rutherfordartsalliance.org/leading-ladies to keep up with details on the show and ticket info.

Speaking of Women’s Suffrage, Candace Corrigan is schedules to have a recording for her musical production A Vote of Her Own on May 16th-18th at Tucker Theatre at MTSU. Ms. Corrigan says that she is still looking for volunteers to be in the recording. If you are interested, please contact her at avoteofherown@gmail.com. For more information on the show’s premise, please visit avoteofherown.com or call Candace Corrigan at 615-904-0085. Candace is also taking the show on the road at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville on August 18th.

Center for the Arts will be reviving Driving Miss Daisy February 18th-27th. Enjoy this classic tale of an unlikely friendship between an aging Jewish widow and her African American driver during the Jim Crow Era, which evolved from a smash hit on Broadway to a blockbuster film.
