A meeting of the Rutherford Arts Alliance was held May 14, 2019, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the Lions Club building at Cannonsburgh in Murfreesboro. The Murfreesboro Art League hosted. Over 40 people were in attendance.
Ginny Togrye welcomed those in attendance and shared key points in recent RAA business:
Nominations are now being sought for new board members to begin service in July, following the 6 month term of the founding board members
The RAA will be hosting a collaborative art show at the City Hall Rotunda from October 1 through November 15. All genres are invited to submit by emailing Ginny at gtogrye (at) bellsouth.net.
Workshops in multiple genres are now being planned for the coming months and will be shared as more details become available.
Youth Council representatives Sarah Oppmann and Chase Loughry shared an update:
Little free libraries are being designed and built and will be installed on the Breezeway off the Greenway.
Youth are involved in conversations about possible mural projects in town
Other fun art events are in the planning stages

May 16 is the Bloom Stage’s Cornbread and Casseroles show at MLT
Kids 4 the Creative Arts announced art exhibits at Sports*Com (6/6) and Patterson Park (6/14)
E. Roy Lee announced an art show at the grand opening of Hop Springs on 5/25, along with promoting his improv comedy group Murfreesboro Improv (M-Prov)
Jessica Nelson announced Focus on the Boro photo show/contest at City Hall Rotunda 6/3-7/5
Gale Stoner shared his outreach events as Murfreesboro Photographer Laureate
There was a reminder of Boro Art Crawl submissions and deadline
Suzanne LeBeau gave a brief program on the meeting’s host, the Murfreesboro Art League. The artists co-op has a free art gallery at Cannonsburgh, open Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 1-4. They host 18 classes a year and hold open studio on the first three Mondays of each month. Suzanne led the group on a tour of the art gallery, and refreshments
Our next meeting is at the MT Center at MTSU on Tuesday, June 11. Hosts will be MTSU Arts and the MTSU College of Liberal Arts.
