Do you miss the library or bookstore story times from when you were a kid? Grown-up reading enthusiasts are invited to gather and hear fellow book lovers from our community share passages from some of their favorite books—the novels, memoirs, and other nonfiction that ignite their reading now. There’s also time for mingling and refreshments! Doors open at 6:30 for the 7:00 PM program.
More about this event
RutherfordLit, the RAA’s Literary Interest Group, confesses to borrowing this fun idea from the The Bookshop East Nashville’s program “Storytime for Grownups.” The idea is that three pre-selected volunteers will each read for 10-12 minutes from a favorite novel that fits the evening’s selected theme. What books will they choose? Will they leave us with a cliffhanger?
We’ll announce our theme and first three readers closer to the event date—but the readers will keep their book selections secret until the event!
Interested in being a reader sometime? Email Kory Wells, korywells@gmail.com, with a little about yourself and what book that you’d love to share. (We LOVE children’s books, too, but for this event, please choose books intended for grownups.)
This is the first time Rutherford Lit is hosting Story Hour for Grownups. If the community responds positively, we envision this becoming a quarterly event.
About the venue and parking
Cultivate Coworking is located at 107 W. Lytle St. in downtown Murfreesboro and has plenty of street parking available on Lytle and College. Street parking is free. Doors open for mingling at 6:30 PM and the program will be at 7:00.
Your support is appreciated
This event is free and open to the public, but please consider joining the RAA! It’s an affordable and important way to support our local creative community. We’ll also be accepting donations ($5 suggested) by PayPal (please note it’s for the Literary Interest Group) or cash to help us offset our costs for this event.
