Free’s the word! Free the creativity within you with this free RAA workshop led by Murfreesboro Actor Laureate Cameron Mitchell. Using the 4 Es (express, engage, empathize, and extinguish hindrances), Cameron will lead participants in activities to spark creativity and fuse effectiveness and forward thinking.

Although the event is free, registration is requested - simply fill out this short form.

All you need to bring is a pen or pencil and paper!

Cameron L. Mitchell is the 2021 Actor Laureate of Murfreesboro and a spoken word artist. He is the founder of Free Fyre, an organization of spoken word artists who engage the community with a blend of poetry, theatrics, and transformation. In addition to serving as a mentor with Southern Word, Mitchell has performed poetry at conferences and events for the NAACP, Creative Exchange, Links INC, OZ Arts, The National Civil Rights Museum, Vanderbilt University, and, hyper-locally, Poetry in the Boro, among others. As a Memphis native and graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Mitchell seeks to transform the community through words and performance.

About the venue

Located on the campus of Hobgood Elementary school, in the heart of Murfreesboro, the Rutherford County Library System (RCLS) Technology Engagement Center is a building designed for education, exploration, and inspiration. Featuring computers, tablets, eReaders, 3D printers, and the staff to help you, the TEC is RCLS’s first fully digital library.

Parking is free.

Participants will be able to social distance in the workshop. Masks are appreciated regardless of your vaccine status due to the current high spread of Covid-19 in our community.
