For our August program, we’ll be learning about art and music therapy from local practitioners Sarah Dilts and learn more about our host venue, The Notes Lounge, from co-owner Andrea Butler. As always, we’ll also have a chance for you to share your arts-related news.
After our program from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, the Visual Arts interest group will host an after-meeting mingle from 6:00 to 7:00. Members and potential members alike are invited to stay and learn more about the group’s work and plans.
About our speakers
Sarah Finch Dilts, MA, ATR-P, is passionate about fostering creativity in "everyday" moments, believing that creative problem solving and learning how to fail well can be parts of a great creative and grace-filled lifestyle. Sarah received her Bachelor's degree in Studio Art and her Master's in Art Therapy from Georgia College & State University. Her hope is to use her experience in both fields to encourage others to play, explore and step outside of their comfort zones. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing outdoors, baking, sewing, singing, painting and taking photos.
Raised in Middle Tennessee, Annie Summar, who will be joining us by video, is a graduate of Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University. With a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Therapy, she is a board-certified music therapist who sings and plays piano, guitar, and ukulele. She also teaches piano lessons. Music therapy combines her passions for music and helping others, Annie says, and she feels honored to help her clients each day. She primarily works with school-age children, adults in recovery, and older adults both with and without memory issues. Annie completed her clinical internship at JourneyPure at the River in Murfreesboro and is currently seeking a master’s in clinical mental health counseling.
About the venue
We’ll be meeting at The Notes Lounge, a stylish and upscale listening room venue that features jazz musicians, vocalists, R&B/Soul artists, comedians, poetry, and select DJ's. Notes is the ultimate destination for great entertainment, mature socializing, and dining.
Notes is located just a little past the Cracker Barrel on 231 near I-24 - drive just a bit past the Cracker Barrel and look for the logo on the building. There’s plenty of free parking.
Doors will open for us at 4:30 and our space is available until 7:00, so come on out and enjoy the venue!
Our meetings are open to the public, although we encourage you to officially become a member anytime.
